Mother's Day is the 2nd Sunday in May. What will you give Mom this year? A recent survey found that 64 percent will give Mom a card, while more than 35 percent plan on sending flowers.
It's a good thing, because the survey shows that a high percentage of moms said the best Mother's Day gift they ever received included flowers, cards and perfume.
Mom sure is loved, as nearly 80 percent said they will spend more or about the same for Mom's gift compared to what they spent for their significant other on Valentine's Day.
The survey was sponsored by The Emily Post Institute and 1-800-flowers.com.
According to the survey, the hardest part about acknowledging Mom on Mother's Day is selecting a gift. Since Mom loves to receive flowers, here is some advice on how to care for the flowers you give her:
• Arrange them in a deep vase filled with cool water and then mix in the preservative provided by the florist.
• Remove all the leaves that fall below the waterline in the vase.
• Add cool water to the vase and change the water every three to four days, recutting the stems whenever you change the water.
